Delivery Information

Our online shop prices include delivery to your doorstep. We use one of the main courier companies with an excellent record of on-time and high quality service. Please be aware:

The cost of delivery to addresses in England, Wales, and Southern Scotland is included in the price. If you live in the Highlands, Islands or Ireland there will be an additional delivery cost (see table). Sorry, this is frustrating for both parties. The couriers charge substantial extra fees which we cannot absorb. We appreciate this can often make the purchase of a bag 'uneconomic'.

We offer a standard UK delivery time of 3 working days on all our products but this may vary at peak times. Gardeners are largely patient - but if you need something rushed to you faster, contact us by phone and we'll see what can be arranged. Regrettably, orders cannot be dispatched on either Saturday or Sunday.

During the winter months, our delivery times cannot be guaranteed in case of adverse weather conditions.

Leave Safe and Signatures

Signatures are generally required for courier deliveries.

Post covid, in line with many online stores, we have moved to "No Signature Required (NSR)" doorstop delivery. Many of our customers already add special instructions that 'if out, leave in shed/door, etc'. Our carrier was unable to comply with these special institutions without an NSR contract. Although NSR carries a higher risk of doorstep theft, the benefits and hassle associated with missed deliveries outweigh the risk. We will replace stolen parcels and take heart that thieves taking away a bag of compost are likely to be very disappointed.

Bulk-Bags, pallet deliveries

If you are ordering a bulk bag or pallet load, the website price is inclusive of delivery. Please note you must check your home address (delivery site) has a solid standing (tarmac, concrete) and is accessible to a large delivery lorry. The lorry will use a tailgate lift to drop the pallet to the kerbside. The drivers will not move pallets beyond the kerbside.

Delivery / Damage
